Important
Please note that on successful application you will initially be issued with a membership "cover note" enabling application for professional insurance. Once we then receive confirmation of insurance (copy of cover note from insurance policy), full certification and ID card will be issued. These are not issued prior to receipt of the evidence of insurance, since both testify to the general public that the Society has seen evidence of your insurance cover.
If you are applying for a practitioner grade membership, but will not be in practice yet, or are taking a break from practice, you can be issued with a "uninsured practitioner completing study leave" certificate. This means you can benefit from membership and it's facilities and begin to build seniority, but will not be pressured to gain insurance until actually practicing. ID cards are not issued to non practicing members.
If you are applying for the new levels of membership: International or Ordinary, simply indicate this on the form and otherwise tick Associate Membership and include the Associate Membership fee. There are two fee levels: Practitioner ( Ordinary, International, Associate, Full, Fellow) and Student. Please see fees page for further details.
Before sending your membership form, check whether your college has a validation agreement. Colleges with validation agreements will confirm your graduation for you, and all you need to do is enclose copies of your certificates and yearly membership fee. In these cases no additional verification fee is needed.
PLEASE WRITE THE SENDERS ADDRESS ON THE REVERSE OF THE ENVELOPE IN CASE OF THE PACKAGE BEING MISDIRECTED OR DAMAGED ON THE WAY.
