Accredited Professional NLP Neuro Linguistic Programming Training. It is now possible to gain a professional diploma in Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP), with a joint ASET level 4 award. A further advanced award is awaiting external accreditation through ASET. This means that you can train in NLP to a recognised standard of level 4 according to nationally recognised standards. The recommended provider is Stonebridge Associated Colleges, a specialised distance learning provider based here in the UK. You will be expected not only to meet the vigorous standards of academic work, but also to carry out case studies and practical work that will be assessed as part of the course. Stonebridge are dedicated to incorporating the necessary information into their courses to enable their graduates to meet the NOS National Occupational Standards for therapy in the UK. There are also other relevant awards in psychotherapy, hypnotherapy and counselling at levels three and four. There is the option of additional SHTC approved practical training and assessment.
Who are ASET? The ASET accreditation information is listed
(offsite) at "ASET Qualifications are approved by QCA (England), ACCAC (Wales) and CCEA (Northern Ireland) and by the Secretary of State for Learning and Skills and are part of the National Qualifications Framework (NQF). ASET also provides National Awards
(designed by ASET) and accredits Awards (designed by Centres)."
Certainly all therapy training in the UK is accredited? No, not at all. Anyone can set up a "training college" and issue "diplomas". You should look for properly accredited colleges and awards.
What should I look for? Some awards are directly accredited, such as NVQ's, SNVQ's, Degrees and National Units. Other awards come from accredited organisations such as VCTC, ASET, ABC Consortium and University Certificates. Stonebridge are an ASET accredited college, and as such the ASET awards that they provide fall into this second accredited category.
Appropriate levels of Award An appropriate level of accreditation would be Level 3 for competence, or level 4 or 5 for a higher professional level. Some providers only have accreditation for "introductory level courses". You are advised to look for accredited courses at levels 3 and up.
