No claim is made to cure any medical condition. Complementary health assistance must be with medical doctor's permission and following the client consulting a medical doctor. With medical doctor's consent is is often possible to assist the client holistically in dealing with conditions classed as medical.

Clinical Hypnosis  and Counselling Strategies for Medical Conditions: "Clinical Hypnotherapy"

NOTE:
ALL medical conditions must first be presented to a medical doctor.

Care plan support can assist a variety of Medical and Clinical Issues

Clinical Conditions

Some conditions, whether medical or mental health related can not be "cured" with any form of medicine, whether complementary or traditional. Such conditions are instead "managed" instead.

Where a condition is managed, treatments, conventional and complementary, are combined in order to provide the best possible quality of life and well-being, while recognising that the sufferer can not be "cured" or have the condition "removed" through treatment.

In these cases a complementary health therapist or life coach can play an important role as part of the overall care plan. The overall plan is managed and monitored in most cases either by the sufferer themselves, a carer, the medical doctor or a social worker. In some cases the lead role is taken by the Community Mental Health Team (CMHT).

It is vital that clients who come to receive support from us maintain their cooperation and contact with their lead role carer and their medical doctor, since we can only provide support as part of the overall care plan. We can not offer a substitute for other elements of care. We do not diagnose medical conditions. We do not claim to cure medical conditions. We do not "treat" medical conditions except as part of an overall care plan supervised by a medical doctor. We are not and we do not claim to be medical doctors.

Typical types of clinical case

Generally the cases we most commonly see are:

Mood Disorders:
These include Bi-polar depression, Borderline Personality Disorder, Cyclothymic Disorder.

Depression:
This might be transitory depression, clinical depression, manic depression (Bi-Polar), or more complex cases involving elements of depression.

Anxiety:
Anxiety can range from phobic reactions that can be elevated, to clinical cases of anxiety that instead need to be managed. There are a range of anxiety types and some of these are very severe in nature.

OCD, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder:
If caught early some OCD cases are transitory or mild. Other cases are long term and may be present alongside more serious conditions such as Bi-Polar. Management and control are essential in the more serious cases.

Pain Management:
Some pain will either not respond to conventional treatment, or is long term as a result of nerve damage or other injury. Often psychological intervention can help to reduce stress (increased stress leads to higher pain levels being perceived), promote relaxation (relaxed states enable easier self-healing), better coping mentally with the condition and optimum perception and behaviour. In cases where pain can not be reduced below basic perception, strategies can be developed to maximise well-being and activity despite the pain.

IBS Irritable Bowel Syndrome and other stress related digestive disorders:
Reduced stress and complementary health methods can often greatly assist sufferers in minimising the impact of the condition. Thus management and symptom reduction can be very effective.

In all cases it is vital that the client maintains their contact with their medical doctor. We will not provide care to clients who remove themselves from medical care. We work to complement conventional medicine and not to provide an alternative to it. Never begin a new activity, diet, exercise routine or other lifestyle change without checking that your medical condition does not make this unsuitable. Do not stop taking medication or treatment without first consulting your medical doctor.

Management of Clinical conditions:

Where a medical, clinical or mental health condition has been diagnosed by a medical doctor or specialist, we are often able to assist in managing the problem. As long as the medical doctor / specialist does not object, we are able to form part of your overall treatment and management plan. It may be life skills coaching, cognitive behavioural training, relaxation therapy, holistic healing, networking or any one of our other therapy models that may help in your case. It must be clearly understood however that this service is provided subject to the medical personnel not objecting, and then as part of your care plan and not as an alternative to medical / mental health support.

Types of therapy used as part of management plans

Therapy methods are chosen in order to complement the care plan needs of the individual client. Therefore it is not possible to say which methods will definitely be used for a certain condition. Frequently however we will provide support using:

  • Life Coaching
  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy / Training
  • Holistic Healing Methods
  • Self Hypnosis / Hypnotherapy / NLP
  • Herbalism or Nutritional Coaching
  • Traditional balancing principles from Japanese, Indian or Chinese traditional medicine.
  • Counselling
  • Psychotherapy

In practice there is a vast array of issues that we can assist with. In all cases we will ensure that you are referred back to your GP if necessary to check that it is safe for you to proceed with complementary methods. In all cases we provide support to NOS National Occupational Standards. We always put safety first, ensure informed consent, and make sure you have a realistic expectation of the progress you can make.

Some specific issues are listed in the left hand column. In all cases the above points apply.

If you have a problem and are not sure if we can assist, drop us an email and we will be glad to advise you further. Please be sure to state your City / general location.
