The inability to sleep well, sleep throughout the night, nightmares, disturbed sleep, restless sleep and unsatisfying sleep are often grouped together and called insomnia.

What causes Insomnia?

There are a range of causes for insomnia and some are medical. If you are suffering then you should always take medical advice from your GP to rule out a medical reason.

Where no medical reason exists the combination of hypnotherapy and psychotherapy is very effective at helping. Hypnosis is a process of relaxation, which teaches the body to relax. This also interrupts the process of being stressed out and wound up (a common factor in poor sleep).

Can Psychotherapy and Hypnotherapy assist Insomnia?

Psychotherapy is very effective at addressing underlying emotional causes for insomnia and providing relief. Hypnotherapy combines well into a package that addresses symptoms and cause.

Both combined provide a good chance of relief for the sufferer. Also in some cases where a medical problem exists, hypnosis or psychotherapy may be used as a compliment to the treatment provided by your medical practitioner (with their permission of course).

Do I have to be a deep-trance subject ?

NO - the majority of therapeutical work does not require a deep trance and for most complaints this is one of these majority areas.

How do I get started in addressing my Insomnia?

The first stage is always to gain a professional assessment of your case. Each insomnia case tends to be fairly unique, partly because of the unique emotional issues in each person's life. Therefore a proper assessment and a tailored course of treatment is necessary to provide long term or permanent relief.

You are advised to avoid "quick fixes" in this as in many areas. You might sleep better for a short while, but if an emotional issues remains unresolved, it may return to cause insomnia again, or display itself in another disruptive way. It is always important to deal with causes as well as symptoms!
