Methods of Pastoral and Healing Ministry

Pastoral
Counselling and Healing Ministry for pain relief, bereavement,
spiritual crisis, feelings of anger and frustration, feeling
lost, general stress or relationship difficulties. In addition to
these pastoral counselling can be a useful adjunct to secular
counselling and psychotherapy techniques.
No claim is
made or inferred to treat or cure a medical condition. We are not a
medical doctors. Clients should always seek medical advice for a
medical condition or injury. With medical doctor's consent is is
often possible to assist the client holistically in dealing with
conditions classed as medical. Weight loss can only be achieved
with calorie controlled dieting and exercise. If in doubt consult
your medical doctor before consulting any complementary therapist.
What Happens?
During pastoral counselling and
healing ministry the client is assisted in dealing with their issues by using
the faith that they have. Religious teachings, rituals, prayer, meditation and
other methods are combined as appropriate. No attempt is made to force another
faith on them. Therapy is not used as a platform of conversion. It is considered
morally and ethically wrong to attempt to convert a client, or to force
religious models of others, either personal or organisational on them. There is
NO question of refusing help or providing conditional help because of a client
not sharing the same faith as the practitioner.
Ethics
Assistance
is given mindful of the UN Declaration of Human Rights and its
specific articles on the right of the individual to have the
religious and cultural faiths of their choice.
