It is commonly misunderstood that Anger management and assertiveness are two sides of the same coin. Both excess assertion resulting in aggression, and insufficient assertion resulting in the passive victim state are related. 

In order to understand either it is necessary to examine the triggers that cause the behaviour, environments and other factors that contribute to the behaviour, and the underlying cause of the person's difficulty finding balance. In each case the objective is to create a balanced and appropriate level of reaction in a range of situations.

Counselling, Psychotherapy, life coaching and Hypnotherapy combined can assist you in becoming far more assertive. Importantly they can assist you in becoming assertive in an appropriate way. Being assertive is NOT about being aggressive. It is about fair, confident and appropriate behaviour.

The wrong level of assertiveness can result in ANGER problems or VICTIM problems.

Frequently problems with assertiveness are due to people playing roles in their lives - playing the boss, victim, child, abuser, aggressor, passive stooge. frequently these patterns are completely unconscious and pre-learnt.
